3. Browser Extension
The JobKompass Chrome Extension lets you save job listings to your JobKompass account directly from any webpage. Here is exactly what it does with your data:
- The extension only reads a page when you click "Save" or "Pin to Queue" — it never runs in the background or collects data automatically as you browse.
- When triggered, it extracts the visible text, title, and URL of the current tab (capped at 15,000 characters, with navigation, ads, scripts, and comments stripped out) so it can identify the job listing.
- That page text, title, URL, and the status you assign are sent over HTTPS to JobKompass's backend, tied to your personal API key, and saved to your JobKompass account.
- Your API key and Convex server URL are stored locally in your browser (via Chrome's sync storage) so you stay signed in. Jobs you "pin" but haven't saved yet are held temporarily in local browser storage until you save or remove them.
- The extension requests access to all websites so it can work on any job board or company careers page — it does not read or transmit page content unless you explicitly click Save or Pin.
- We do not sell captured page data, and the extension does not include any advertising or analytics trackers of its own.
- You can revoke the extension's access at any time by removing your API key from its Options page or uninstalling the extension.
